April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center, NSVRC, has developed a theme for this year’s awareness campaign: “It’s Time to Talk About it: Talk Early, Talk Often.”
At MOCSA, we’re taking that message to heart. We want to know what SAAM means to you. What do you think it’s time for? Recent heart-wrenching cases of sexual assault have been examples of so many things it’s time for. It’s time to stop victim-blaming. It’s time to hold perpetrators accountable. It’s time to stop being silent bystanders.
Throughout the month of April, we want to hear from our friends in the Kansas City community. Tweet to us @MOCSAkc and tell us what #ItsTime for during #SAAMkc Write your message down on a piece of paper or poster, hold it up proudly for a picture and send it our way. We want to get a meaningful conversation going in Kansas City, and to do that we need your help.
