Since Sept. 11, 2001, more than 2 million men and women from the U.S. military have served in Iraq or Afghanistan, following generations of bravery and tradition before them. The nonprofit Wounded Warrior Project has helped tens of thousands of injured service members and their families transition back to civilian life with programs such as combat stress recovery, economic empowerment and family support services — as well as successful legislative and policy work.
